Plant-life preservation is an important matter for all life-forms on this planet, including humans. They provide oxygen for us to breathe, and food for both humans and the animals we eat. Plant-life is being destroyed or harmed for many reasons but there a few easy steps you can take in order to help.
One big killer, specifically for ash trees, is a nasty little bugger called the Emerald Ash Borer. It has been found in many places across the US and it’s larvae will damage the parts of the tree that are responsible for the uptake of water, and also the nutrient transportation systems inside of the tree, both of which are vital to the tree’s life. You can help by informing your local DEC if you suspect you have Emerald Ash Borers, and also by not bringing wood across State lines.
Other easy steps to help plant-life preservation is to avoid the use of pesticides and other harmful products, and also by planting in areas which are conducive to life, ie: not planting too close to your home, road, or driveway, all of which will constrict the plant’s roots, eventually killing. You can also help conserve local plants if you avoid introducing invasive species into your area. You can talk with your local nature conservation programs for a list of these.
